ABOUT IMA

More Than a Gym.
A Community.

Since 2011, Iowa Martial Arts & Wellness has helped students of all ages build confidence, improve fitness, learn practical self-defense, and become part of a supportive martial arts family.

Our Story

Building Iowa Martial Arts Since 2011

Iowa Martial Arts and Wellness began in 2011 when Head Coach Charles Heller started a small striking team in his garage known as Team Bad Intentions.

As interest grew, the team expanded into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and eventually outgrew its original training space.

In 2014, the academy opened its first dedicated facility under the name TBI Athletic Club. In 2017, the gym moved to its current location and became Iowa Martial Arts & Wellness.

Today, we continue to provide a welcoming environment where students of all ages and experience levels can learn, grow, and achieve their goals.

Our Mission

Helping Students Reach Their Goals

Our mission is to create a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable stepping onto the mats.

Whether your goal is self-defense, fitness, competition, or personal growth, our coaches are committed to helping you progress at your own pace.

We believe martial arts should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, experience, or athletic background.

Our academy features approximately 1,800 square feet of mat space dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, and MMA training.

We also maintain a dedicated striking room equipped with heavy bags and training equipment.
